Summer is coming to a close but there are still plenty of events and things to do around Orange County this September 2014. Here are some of the best events going on this month so get out your calendar and start adding these important dates!
OC Brew Ha Ha
Saturday September 6th at Oak Canyon Park the OC Brew Ha Ha craft beer festival will bring together over 175 craft and import beers from 70 breweries across Southern California. The price of entrance gets you unlimited tastings, free soda and water and live entertainment. General admission is $45 and VIP is $60 which will get you a commemorative glass, an extra hour of tasting and some special treatment. There will also be a cigar booth and lounge if that’s what you’re into.

Oktoberfest in Huntington Beach
That’s right, this month long event starts Sunday September 14th at the Old World German Restaurant in Huntington Beach. Located right next to the Bella Terra shopping center, Old World has been holding Oktoberfest celebrations for 36 years. Festivities include German beers, brats, an Oktoberfest parade, and Oom Pa Pah bands.
And the celebrations aren’t just for those over 21, every Sunday Old World hosts Kinderfest – Octoberfest for the whole family! Activities include carnival games, a bouncy house and Dachshund dog races. Visit http://www.oldworld.ws/oktoberfest-orange-county.html for more information.
Newport Beach Wine and Food Festival
Friday September 19th – Sunday 21st the city will play host to the first ever Newport Beach Wine and Food Festival. This will be replacing Taste of Newport and is expected to be one of the premier Southern California food festivals. RED O Restaurant will be hosting the launch party on Friday the 19th. The rest of the festival, Saturday and Sunday, will be held at the Newport Beach Civic center from 11am-5pm each day and include live cooking demos, food from Orange County’s best restaurants, sommelier panels, mixology courses, live music and tastings from over 40 wineries.

Global Village Festival in Irvine
Saturday September 27th at Bill Barber Park come experience the best cultural festival in Orange County. Admission to the Global Village Festival is free and you can enjoy live dancing, music and other entertainment plus a kid’s village with crafts and activities.

Orange County Children’s Book Festival in Costa Mesa
Sunday, September 28th from 9:30-4:30 at Orange Coast College. This event features over 150 authors, dozens of illustrators and tons of storytellers and entertainers to bring all this literary magic to life! With almost 40,000 in attendance last year, this event is a big deal and draws lots of other exhibitors for a full day of fun and things to see.

LA County Fair
Last month was the end of everyone’s favorite summer time event – the Orange County Fair. But don’t worry if you missed it, you can catch the LA County Fair going on August 29th – September 28th in Pomona. Visit the exhibits, attractions, farm animals, check out a concert and of course feast on deep-fried deliciousness!
